Snow Squall Studies | 2026

On remote roads in Iceland, I have experienced sunlight giving way to a snow squall within moments, the landscape disappearing from view. These encounters remain among the most profound experiences of my winter journeys: moments that left me entirely reliant on myself.
They made tangible how much our safety depends on preparation, attentiveness and an understanding of unfamiliar surroundings. That I could continue safely came down to decisions that proved right—and a measure of luck I could never take for granted. In Snow Squall Studies, I explore this fragile boundary between certainty and exposure.
