Photographic Journal Shanghai | cHina 2014

This photographic journal grew out of my stay in Shanghai in 2014, when I held a teaching assignment at East China University. Rather than seeking out the city’s newest façades, I set off in search of old Shanghai—its narrow alleyways, neighbourhood markets and lived-in streets, including places that have since disappeared. Through colours, textures and fleeting encounters, the photographs form a personal record of everyday life in a changing city.
